I am not one to usually write a review but this diet works so well I felt the need to share it. Over the years I have successfully lost weight on a couple different diets. I do have a thyroid issue and am taking medication which puts me into the proper "range" in the numbers. Even though that is true as I got older, it became harder and harder for me to lose weight. Even with extensive exercise and eating 1000 calories a day I barely lost anything. All I had to do was look at food and I gained weight. So, I knew something was off with my metabolism but after several trys at the doctor to increase the level of the medication without success I was stuck. So, here's the stats: Female, 52 years old and premenopausal. I read the reviews for this diet and thought I'd try it. I had heard before of diets that eliminate all "white" foods (bread, pasta, sugar, potatoes) and thought there is no way I can actually do that diet. I read the book still thinking that every doctor that talks about losing weight tells you something different. The part of the book that said a few days after you start this diet and cut out grains and sugar you will no longer be craving them I found hard to believe. It was exactly true. I felt better. I am not hungry. I never heard of or had quinoa before this diet. I love it now. I have been on this diet for 17 weeks and I have lost 36 lbs and I am still losing. For a woman my age to lose 2 lbs a weeks is amazing. I do try to do the exercises, which are only an half hour a day, but I am not doing them everyday.
