The book is huge and very thorough. If you want to acquire some medical knowledge then this is the book for you whether you take a class or not. I took a basic course and have been teaching myself the intermediate level to make me a better EMT-B. This knowledge has already paid off as how I assist the Medic by preparing things while he/she focus on patient care.
