is it a book that you can read thru and ace your neuroscience exam? hell no. is it a book that will make you understand WHY you're taking neuroscience? definitely
how i used this book: went to lecture, learned everything from the powerpoints/course texts like usual, then i spent the last 48 hrs using this book and PreTest: Neuro so that I could get the clinical feel for the subject. worked great for me. i ended up blowing the NBME shelf exam out of the water and i totally credit this book for it. it teaches you all of the subjective clinical aspects to neurology that are high-yield on USMLE type of stuff
"a 22 yr old female comes to you complaining of developing vision deficits. upon examination, she has difficulty tracking an object L to R, but convergence is normal...."

I bought this book to help me in a medical neuroanatomy class. It is simple as the title says, but at times perhaps too much so. This book contained some helpful drawings, though others were not in the detail that was needed for my class. I used some of the drawings as a starting point to make some of my own diagrams, but I don't think that I would have needed the book to do this. The text is brief, so concepts will not be fully discussed (or even mentioned). Additionally, they added cutesy interjections in an attempt to make the material more accessible, but I just found it distracting. So I got a bit out of this book, but not as much as I was hoping.
