There are many elements of this book that make it unique from other business process books currently available.
For someone wanting to learn business processes in the context of SAP ERP, I am aware of no finer book on this topic (including those produced by SAP Press). There are a few books on the market currently (including one by these same authors) that cover business processes on an introductory level. There certainly are many books that take a particular ERP functional area and focus on it in depth. This text presents a moderate dive into the mechanics of all of the core ERP processes. A focal element of the book is on the integration of those processes that can be achieved through the use of ERP. Each of the processes are covered in depth independently, and then those processes are examined in an integrated system.
This book has strong content similarities to the SAP TERP10 training class and related materials. While the TERP10 materials are over 1,000 pages, not always clear, missing strong review questions and support exercises, and available only to those taking the official SAP training course (at significant expense) this text condenses those materials into something more readily usable in an academic setting or for a professional. The content is supported by unified examples throughout the book based on the fictional company Global Bike (an added bonus to those who use this text in conjunction with SAP University Alliances resources). Even for one with TERP10 experience, this book holds great ongoing value as a reference tool.
