New Perspectives on Computer Concepts 2013: Comprehensive ) Free Download
It's interesting to me that this text book appears already out of date. Even though it's a 2013 edition, it is referring to older Windows editions. Also in the section on Bits and Bytes, it describes the word tera as being associated with mainframes and supercomputers. I've been using terabyte external drives to store movies for years and I think a great many of my friends do as well. A simple search on Amazon.com shows 240 desktop computers with a terabyte of storage, several with 2 and one each for 3, 4, 5 and 6 terabytes of storage.
I like the writing style. It's smooth and conversational. I didn't notice a typo. The text is clean and well-edited.
I don't like the fact that the eBook is only compatible with KindleFire because I'd prefer to use the text-to-speech function on my kindle to connect to the aux port on my car radio and listen to the text while I drive to work.
I like some of the more philosophical discussions -- Is the Web dead?
I don't find the specialized vocabulary definitions particularly memorable. I'd like to see a little more creativity so that these concepts stick in a student's mind.
Overall, I'd say this text is better than the average technology book, which can be alienating to common people, but it's not an exceptional book. It's just mediocre.

I have used this book for 20+ years for a college course.
It covers everything: supercomputer, mainframe, mini computer, PC, laptop, operating systems, software, applications, system analysis design, network, Wi Fi, database, spreadsheet, Silicon Valley jobs, and 50 other related topics. It got so much material, that is more than enough for one semester course.
I recommend this book to everyone.
